IRIS is regarded as a high energy cover band. IRIS started in 1999 and has played in many different bars, clubs, corporate functions, and festivals throughout San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Dallas, and many places in between. In 2005 IRIS was honored when the Edge magazine voted them San Antonio’s #1 cover band. Like any band there is always a journey and that journey started with James Kuvet (bass). James started IRIS and in the beginning IRIS went through many drummers, guitar players, and singers. Along the way James met Jim Freeman (guitar) and it’s been a joyous journey ever sense.
Throughout history you normally have two names associated with a band: McCartney/Lennon, Tyler/Perry, Simmons/Stanley and IRIS is no different. Kuvet and Freeman have feed this beast known as IRIS since the beginning and are the architects behind the high energy atmosphere that IRIS is known for. Along this Journey Tim Straight (vocals) became the lead singer, Jordan Ames joined on drums, and Marc Nelson (guitar/keyboards) finalized the band.
What makes IRIS so unique is their understanding that people want to listen to great music but also have a need to be entertained. Jim will tell you “If you want to listen to great music stay home and turn on the radio or play a CD. If you want to listen to great music and be entertained then you should come out and see an IRIS gig.” To put it simply IRIS is a dichotomy of musical ideas. On one side you have the music and on the other side you have the entertainment. With some bands you get either one or the other but not both. The members of IRIS believe that you can have the best of both worlds. They know that without the musical talent they would be just an ordinary band. When you add superior musical talent with a high energy show you have a winning formula. IRIS brings fun back to the music scene and promises to always give their best both for the music and for the show.

Q: What type of music do you play?
A: IRIS is a cover band and as such they play a lot of music from the 80’s to today. IRIS has been around since 1999 and has a large back catalog of songs to pull from. For a current set list check out our Set list section. If you don’t see the song selection you’re looking for chances are that we know it and have played it at some point.
Q: What kind of events will you play?
A: IRIS is a cover band that plays night clubs, any type of function, corporate events, and even weddings.
Q: How far in advance should I book?
A: IRIS gets a lot of inquiries so the sooner you decide and make contact with them the better.
Q: Do you provide your own sound and lighting?
A: Absolutely! IRIS is capable of sizing up or down their production to accommodate the size of each event. They use only the latest state of the art equipment. Large hall? Outdoor Concert? Night Club? No problem. Intimate? Low volume? No problem! All our production expenses are included in our low rates.
